Simple and Inexpensive Fall Decor Tips

Sharing is caring!

So it’s still August. Maybe it seems a little early for a fall decor post. But I know some people can’t wait until after Labor Day to get into the fall spirit, and some of you may have already started drinking your pumpkin spice lattes (not me though, I’m more of an apple cider person :). Here are my fun, easy, and inexpensive fall decor tips!

Today I'm sharing my best tips for decorating for fall without breaking the bank. #falldecor #homedecor #fall

Use what you have

For this I don’t only mean any fall decor you may already have. I don’t think items have to be specifically fall decor to work as part of your seasonal decorating. Think about what kind of color scheme you want to do: I love neutrals, black and white, and touches of copper or gold for fall. Maybe you’re more into traditional reds and oranges, or maybe you like something else completely. Look around your home to see what you already have that would go with the look you are trying to achieve. Think vases, candles, or books with spines in your colors.

Another item you can pull into your fall decor is a letter board or light box. These pieces have been popular the last few years and chances are you have one. If you don’t and you want one you should be able to find it on the cheap (try Target, Kohl’s, Home Goods or TJ Maxx). You can add one of these items into your fall decor easily by putting “Happy Fall” or another cute and clever saying. You can always find ideas through searching Pinterest or Instagram.

Here is a little shelf display I made last year.

Add Small Touches

I like adding smaller motifs around my home. A little display here and there, like on a shelf or a table. Besides items you may already own, you can find small fall items at places like Dollar Tree or the Target Dollar Spot. Last year I found some adorable ceramic pumpkins for a dollar each at Target. I think they will be something I will continue to put into my fall decor year after year.

Dollar Tree has stepped up its decor over the past few years. Even if your not into their style, you can always find seasonal florals to easily switch up your decor.

Pillow covers are another fun thing to decorate with. You can take something you most likely already have (throw pillows) and make them seasonal by adding a cute cover. Bonus: pillow covers are small, so they won’t take up much storage space in the off seasons. You can go as simple as just changing to a solid fall color, or you can add a fun design. Here is a cute buffalo check and a fun pumpkin spice design.

Coupon and Sale Shop for Larger Items

I love looking at craft stores like Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and Joann Fabrics for seasonal decor. One of my favorite things about these stores (other than the cute decor) is they tend to always have seasonal decor for 40-50% off and they always have a coupon for 40% off full price items. Basically never pay full price at any of these places.

Are you planning to decorate for fall this year? I hope these tips helped!

I love the pillow cover idea as opposed to trying to store so many seasonal pillows!
