Outfit inspired by fall fashion trends

For a while now I have been wanting to start a series where I share outfits inspired by high end looks, but on an affordable budget. I’ve always admired styles from designers like Chanel and Dior, and people like Kate Middleton, but there’s no way I can afford those items on my somewhat modest salary. I’m hoping to share that high style doesn’t have to come with a high price tag.

Over this past weekend I had a look at photos from the Dior and Chanel Fall 2019 runway shows (you know the ones that actually take place in the spring). Both shows shared a lot of plaid, so I guess I’d say I had those photos in the back of my mind when I was putting this outfit together. Other fall trends I was inspired by were Victorian elements, with my ruffled collar and sleeves, and animal print with the sunglasses.

For this outfit, I chose a pair of jeans that was already in my closet and some of my favorite flats that are on heavy rotation. The new items, the top, bag, and sunglasses, were affordably purchased from Target and Kohl’s.

Kohl’s tip: never pay full price. This bag was 25% off and then I had an additional ten dollar coupon.

I would say this look is my attempt at “pre-fall” or a summer to fall transition. I’ve always struggled with the idea of transitional season outfits. Where I live its pretty much either hot or cold, with maybe a couple weeks of spring and fall in between. If you’re in the same boat but want to start incorporating fall elements, I think using accessories and color are the easiest way to do this.
