In continuation of my sporadic Guide to St. Louis posts, I thought I would share about some fun places I went this past weekend. They included dinner at Grace Meat + Three and seeing a show at The Fabulous Fox Theatre.

Dinner at Grace Meat + Three
Grace Meat + Three is a southern style counter service restaurant located in the Grove area of St. Louis. The concept is that you choose an entree and up to three sides to complete your meal. I honestly think I could make a meal out of sides and be happy, so I was into this idea.
(Side note: The Grove is a great spot if you love wall murals. These photos were taken at one of the murals there)
In addition to meat (or tofu) entrees, there are also salads and sandwiches. Everything is served a la carte so you can really make your meal what you want.
My friend went a bit healthier with the barbecue tofu and two fall vegetable based sides.
I went the carbs route; I figured I might as well get a smorgasbord of items to try seeing as it was my first time there. I ordered the chicken fingers with mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and cornbread (I said I was into carbs).
I really enjoyed the meal. The chicken comes regular or spicy and I opted for the regular. It does still have a slight kick to it. I’m not sure if the mashed potatoes or macaroni and cheese were my favorite. The cornbread was good too but it was actually just a little too much for me. I guess that shows you get your money’s worth though.
The Fabulous Fox Theatre
After dinner we headed to The Fabulous Fox Theatre for Wicked!
I can’t have a blog who’s name is partially based on a musical without talking a bit about musicals, now can I?
I’ve seen Wicked before, this was actually my third time seeing it. I realized, however, that the last time I saw the show was 12 years ago!
In high school I was a theater kid, and Wicked became very popular during that time. I still listen to the soundtrack from time to time and know most of the songs by heart.
If you’ve never heard of Wicked it is sort of an alternate telling of The Wizard of Oz that tells the backstory of the witches of Oz, and also how all of Dorothy’s friends came to be. Idina Menzel (aka Elsa from Frozen) was the original Elphaba in the show (the, maybe-not-so, wicked witch).
The Fox Theatre in St. Louis is a sight to be seen. If you can’t catch a show there, you can actually take a tour of the theater. The decor is so ornate and beautiful. Part of the fun of seeing a show there is just experiencing the beautiful setting.
Outfit Details: Sweater | Skirt (currently sold out, but fingers-crossed it’s restocked!) | Similar Skirt | Headband
Wicked was great as always. If you ever get the opportunity to see this show, take it! It’s one of the great modern musicals.
