Everyday Makeup Using Mostly Drugstore Products

Sharing is caring!

I’ve always really enjoyed using makeup. It’s fun to play and experiment with. As someone who’s been wearing makeup for many years now, I’ve gotten a handle on what I like and what works for me. Here are my current everyday favorites.

Face

Foundation: I’ve been using the L’oreal Infallable Pro-Matte foundation for a few months now. L’oreal describes this as “demi-matte” which I would say is accurate because it doesn’t totally make your face flat. This foundation is a medium to full coverage, which I find good for most days.

Powder: I’ve been using the L’oreal True Match powder for years now. It’s not translucent, and that’s why I like it. It adds just a little coverage, which I feel like takes my skin closer to the “flawless” level (though it’s definitely not really flawless).

At the moment I don’t have a concealer that I’m using, so if you have any favorites let me know!

Bronzer: The bronzer I use is part of the elf Total Face Palette. It also comes with two blushes and a highlight but I’m not a fan of those. The bronzer is a matte light shade that works great if you are fair skinned. I use this to do a little bit of contouring.

Highlighter: I’m still looking for my perfect highlighter (so if you know a good one let me know) but I do like this one from Wet N Wild. I’m pale so I’ve found that anything too pink or bronzey just looks too dark and doesn’t give me the illuminated look I want. This one is light enough for me and works pretty well!

Blush: The blush I’m using currently is the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Blushing Bride. This is a slightly purple toned pink. I’ve tried a couple of different shades in the Tarte blush line, and I’ve been happy with all of them. They are a little pricy but I do think they are great quality and long lasting.

Eyes

I keep my eye makeup pretty minimal on a daily basis. I like eyeshadow, but I really only use it on special occasions.

Mascara: I’m a big fan of drugstore mascaras. It seems like any of the high end mascaras I’ve tried have been very wet formulas, and I prefer drier mascaras. I like very thick long lashes. Basically I want my lashes to look fake without having to wear false lashes (cause I’m lazy). I also always use waterproof mascaras. For one, they don’t smudge, and two, they hold curl so much better than non-waterproof formulas. Right now I’m using the Maybelline Total Temptation mascara but I also really like the L’oreal Butterfly Effect and Cover Girl Total Tease mascaras.

Eyeliner: I will admit this isn’t exactly an everyday makeup product of mine. I prefer to sleeping rather than get up earlier on work mornings, so I skip the eyeliner. I am a big fan of black liquid liner though. I’ve tried several and I think high end is the way to go with these. The applicators seem to be better made and the formulas are usually very black. I’m currently using Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner.

UPDATE: I’m now loving this eyeliner from NYX. It’s so good and less than half the price of the Kat Von D!

Brows: I’ve never really gone crazy with brow stuff. My brows are naturally dark and pretty thick, so I just like to make them a little more defined. I saw Emily Noel on YouTube mention the elf Eyebrow Kit years ago and I decided to try it (by the way, if you like makeup and you’ve never watched Emily on Youtube do it! She is the makeup queen). I recently went back to it because I think it works really well for what I need. It has a wax you apply first and then a powder. I use the shade medium.

Lips

I like to switch up my lip color a lot. I’m also really not particular when it comes to brand or formula. I’ll pretty much try anything! Right now my favorite lip product is the Sephora Collection #Lipstories Lipstick in Labyrinth City. Although it’s from Sephora, it runs closer to drugstore pricing at $8. I really like this color because it’s a brown toned red, so I get a bit of those 90s brown vibes that are in, but it still adds warmth to my complexion that I need with being a pale girl.
