What is Disneybounding? Plus how to brighten your wardrobe for spring

Sharing is caring!

If you’ve never heard of Disney bounding, it is a way to draw inspiration from Disney characters without being in a full costume. It got started as a way for adults to dress like characters in the Disney parks because adults aren’t permitted to wear costumes while there. Disneybounding is a fun way to get creative with your park outfits or add a little Disney magic to your everyday style.

It all started when Leslie Kay began the Disneybound tumblr and instagram pages to share inspiration with other Disney fans. Now it’s hugely popular inside and out of the parks. One of my favorite things is the yearly instagram challenge that takes place in March. If you want to jump in or see what I’m wearing before it hits the blog, make sure you’re following me on the gram!

Disneybounding can be as simple or as intricate as you want. Color blocking and accessories play a big part in putting outfits together. The idea is to use items you already own or regular clothing pieces that you can find at the mall or a thrift store. No costume shops here!

For this year’s challenge, I wanted to put together stylish outfits that I would normally wear, with some extra Disney flair. The outfit I’m sharing here is for Pixar day. I thought the cardigan I shared in my Amazon wishlist post would be perfect for Rainbow Unicorn, a super small character in Inside Out, but her scene is one of my favorites in the movie.

I think this is a great outfit to incorporate into your spring wardrobe. The pastels are perfect and the fact that it’s a cardigan makes it great for those cooler days. By the way, the cardigan was a little thicker than I thought it would be, so it works well for those winter days that may still be holding on.

Pastel Rainbow Cardigan

The base of this look is simple: dark wash jeans and a white long sleeve tee. Plus I added my fun orchid sneakers and a pink scrunchie (for extra unicorn vibes.

Have you ever disneybounded? What are you looking forward to most in spring fashion? Let me know!

I love this idea only because I’m on my way to Disney next month, and sometimes buying everything with Mickey ears can get a little overrated.
