Bedroom Design Plans and Mood Board

Bedroom Mood Board, Blue and White Interior Design

Hello! If you’ve been following the blog for a while then you may remember my plan to redesign my bedroom. Well not a whole lot has changed since then. Except, I do have a much clearer vision for what I want to do, and therefore, I think I’ll actually be able to take some action.

Bedroom Makeover Plans

Declutter

First and foremost, I have to declutter and get rid of a lot of stuff. I actually did a really good closet clean out back in June (thank you Marie Kondo), but I think I could stand going through my clothes one more time.

Besides clothes, there’s just so much clutter everywhere. This will be the hardest and most time consuming part (and least fun) but it has to get done.

Rearrange Furniture

The layout of my room has never really worked for me, however, I thought it was the only way my furniture could be arranged. I started thinking about how I could add my desk into my room, and my thoughts starting shifting for how my furniture could be arranged.

My plan is to move my bed from the center of my room to being against one of the walls. I know most of the time people try to avoid having their bed on a wall but I really think it will open up the space and help to create different “zones” in the room. I’m also adding my desk to the room so I can create a little office area.

Decorate!

You can probably tell from my mood board that I really love blue and white. My plan is to mix traditional and contemporary elements to create a beautiful, cozy space.

Here are some things I plan to use –

These blue and white floral sheets that are currently on their way to me.

A chinoiserie inspired stool to use as extra seating or a small side table.

“Emily” Portrait by artist and designer Josh Young.

A ghost chair to add a modern element.

This desk is similar to the one I already own.

A tall shelf to add storage and decor.

A white scalloped duvet set.

And even more chinoiserie elements.

So that is my plan! I’m excited to see how this goes.

What’s your decor style?

This weekend I did a major declutter to my bedroom. Whenever I wake up, I do feel like I’m at a hotel. It’s so clean and picked up. My next step is rearrange furniture. πŸ™‚ And then I’d like to decorate.

Loved your post. It was inspirational! πŸ™‚

I love the colours you’ve chosen – the duvet set is especially cute! I’m in the process of redesigning my room at the flat I’m moving into and the theme I’m going for is white (for the furniture) with a lot of natural rattan and bamboo wooden accents thrown in. And about a million houseplants haha. xx
