2019 First Quarter Goal Check In

One thing that I think is so important to make sure you stick to and achieve your goals is to check in on your progress periodically. If you followed my blog last year then you know I used to always publish my goals for the month and a recap of the previous month. This kept me checking in on my goals but I realized a month really isn’t long enough for a lot of goals, and I typically didn’t achieve anything. That’s not really the best for morale.

This year I set my goals at the beginning of January and decided I would check in quarterly on my progress. I’m hoping by approaching my goals this way by the end of the year I’ll have achieved everything I want!

Get Healthier/Lose Weight

I’ve just started changing up my eating habits a little. I’m drinking much less soda right now, and I’ve found some healthier snack options for when I get snacky after work. That time frame is the most difficult for me because I always feel ravenous when I come home from work. I’m thinking about trying to eat more frequent smaller meals. I think it will work better for me in terms of hunger, but I’m not exactly sure how I’ll make it work in my schedule yet.

Another thing I’m seriously considering is the Mediterranean diet. Although it’s referred to as a “diet” it really is a lifestyle. The Mediterranean diet is known for being really heart healthy and seems like a very realistic diet for me. Vegetables, healthy fats, and whole grains are a big part of this diet, and even the foods that aren’t really encouraged (like eating tons of dairy or red meat) are still allowed in moderation. I’m still very much learning about this lifestyle, and I think I’m going to start slowly adding in Mediterranean diet meals into my routine until it’s my main diet.

Traveling

So far this year I think the farthest I’ve traveled from home was maybe about 40 minutes. You can see this goal hasn’t really happened yet. I was sick throughout most of January which greatly affected my pay, so traveling hasn’t really been a priority lately. I know one trip will be happening later this year, and I’m hoping to figure out one other time to travel, so we’ll see.

Self-employment

Well I still have my day job so this goal isn’t achieved, but I also knew this was the one that would require the most time and effort. I think the blog has been doing pretty well so far this year (especially since it was about 3 weeks into the year before I even wrote my first post). I’ve also been looking into other income streams like freelancing and creating my own product. This goal is lofty. I’m hoping to achieve this one in the year, but if not, I know I’ll have a big start on it.

Have you been keeping up with your goals for the year? Even if you haven’t you can always revisit your goals or set new ones. There’s no time like the present!

A great post! I tried to do monthly goals as well but I never ended up achieving them all, so I never felt I was productive enough – so quarter goal check-ins sound great! I’ll be trying this out when I’m next setting my objectives for the next few months 🙂

Great post! I love the idea of periodically checking in on my goals. I admit, this is something I have yet to do and am a bit nervous doing, only because I feel I’ll be disappointed. Thanks for the motivation to get it done! Love it.

I wish you the best of luck with all your goals, especially the self-employment goal! You’ll get there. One step at a time!

Good luck with your goals! All are very similar to mine! For the traveling part, would some day trips within your own country be doable if going abroad is too much right now? As for weight loss, I’ve noticed specifically that making those healthier changes slowly and one by one has actually been GREAT for making my weight start to come off – and stay off. It’s different for everyone, their needs, and their body, but yeah that’s been literally the only thing that’s worked! I’m actually super happy about that, lol, it means I still get to eat pizza! And good luck with the self-employment goal – this one is most definitely something that we just gotta ease into, no matter how much we both may want it to happer overnight. But we’ll get there very soon!

Thank you! I’ve been trying to do the slow healthy changes thing. I thinks it’s working, just slowly. I’m definitely bad about wanting things to happen overnight but nothing really works that way, so I just need to accept that things are slow.
